Victorian Quilters Travelling Suitcase

We are pleased to announce that we will be showing the Victorian Quilters Traveling Suitcase at our Charity Quilt Show on Saturday 1st & Sunday 2nd November 2014


Loose Threads Challenge: 


There are nine quilts in this set, measuring 50cm x 75cm, interesting and diverse.



4 Seasons: 

A challenge for Victorian Quilters to make one of the seasons after purchasing a piece of fabric in a brown bag. The fabrics were from a range and the information in the bag denoted the season the quilter was to use the fabric for. 

This collection is A4 in size, that is 30cm x 48cm. There are 30 quilts in this collection and the use of the fabric display a wide variety of techniques.

Essendon Quilt

Annie D has been working on this quilt for a good friend.  He is a supporter of Essendon.  She quilted it herself on a Grand Quilter.

Mystery Quilt

Kath and Annie joined the Benalla Convent Quilters in a Mystery Quilt weekend.

A Jelly Roll and 3 metres of background fabric was required.  

They were a lovely group of ladies and we hope to share other days with them in the future.

Pumpkin Quilt

Rita has been working on this creation for a while and recently had it quilted and it is looking great. Called the Pumpkin quilt because some of the fabrics have pumpkins on it.  It is based on a Ricky Tims Convergence patterns.  Just the boarder to be finished.

Nina quilting her 'Braid Quilt'

Nina set herself a real challenge to complete this Braid Quilt.  With the assistance of Sonja they achieved a wonderful result.

Sue B has been working on this 'I Spy' Quilt.

Charity Quilt Delivery

Kath delivered 6 finished quilts to Liz at Monash Children’s Cancer Centre, Clayton.  Our first delivery for 2014.  Our target is 29 quilts for 2014.   We have many more quilts in the production stage.

Under water quilt

We used this quilt as a group day activity.  Some took their blocks home to complete, but Sonja led the group to the complete stage.   Her Quilting was spectacular.

More Charity Quilts

Many members make light work.   Charity quilts are being created and quilted. Sonja is getting lots of quilting done.

Night Quilters Weekend Retreat

The night quilters divided into two groups of four and challenged each other to a weekend workshop. Using Monica Poole's Pattern of 5 different QAYG techniques we made 2 different quilts over the weekend as we learned the techniques.

Fabric and batting were cut prior to our start on Saturday.  We are very grateful to Sandra Dwell for her contribution to our charity efforts in supplying us with a lovely lunch each day of soup and breads.

We had a great time creating a boys and girls quilt for the children at Monash Cancer Center for Children in Clayton and learning the techniques.

Lyn and Robyn P have been working on the drunkards path quilt and have been very creative with their quilting on the frame.
