Robyn worked on the quilting machine and frame.

Nina Quilts

Nina was second to try out quilting on the frame and first to use the templates.  She is very please with the results and enjoyed the experience.

Origami Day

Nina was kind enough to lead us in a little class in Origami Squares.  These can be made into a bag, quilt, and cushion or where ever the imagination leads.  It was a fun day.

First Quilt on Frame

Here is our first quilt on the frame.

This is also Sonja's first quilt. Sonja chose to freemotion her quilt with a wave pattern and quilted the centre panel with varying size lines to represent water. Sonja was very pleased with her first use of the frame and machine and it was a great result for the kids.

 

New Quilting Frame

Thanks to funding we have purchased a quilting frame to use with our Phaff Grand Quilter

We put a test piece on the frame for everyone to have a go.

Funding and our work

 We create quilts for children with cancer, disabilities and other local charities.

We have successfully completed 55 quilts in the past 2 years.  There are 12 quilts currently in the production stage. The list of children being treated for cancer at the Monash Medical Centre continues to grow and we receive more names each time we make a presentation.  

In late 2012 we received funding from FRRR towards a quilting frame to grow our quilter’s skills, self esteem and encourage more people from our community to joins us in this worthy and rewarding project.  

Funding was also received from the Mansfield Bush Market Committee. 

Finally in March 2013 with further donations and support from MACE and the Mansfield Men's Shed Association Inc. we finally raised the required amount to purchase a John Watts quilting frame.
